Tranny Swap...

Has anyone here ever attempted or known anyone who has swapped their 2g talon or eclipse's transmission with a neons? i have a fwd talon whose third and fifth gear synchros are bad. i want to get it fixed but i would rather just swap the tranny with a newer one than deal with fixing the enternals. this is where i found the swap idea:

http://www.2gnt.com

its under FAQ, then click on "manual tranny". im was just curious about this i only want to save the most money i can. if its not worth it tell me because i can get a good tranny that will fit my car for about $800.

thanks everyone!

Re: Tranny Swap...

It is worth it and if your looking at neon trannies try to find a R/T neon trannie because they come with 3.93 gears and your talon i believe comes with 3.55. It shouldn't be that hard considering that your car is already standard

Re: Tranny Swap...

will fabricating new mounts be hard? also would it be worth it to have lower gears since theoretically that would lower top speed?!

Re: Tranny Swap...

yes it would have a lower top speed but it would be real nice accelerating to that speed

Re: Tranny Swap...

You need to use the neons trannie mounts, those gears(3.93) should take you up the !50. Thats what ive heard

Re: Tranny Swap...

sweet! im definately going to start looking for an R/T tranny. i think that a neon trans will probably be easier to find anyway.
