stereo in my '91
Hey guys this is a great forum. I am new and I own a 1991 corolla and need a new stereo system. I was thinking about going with an all sony xplod system including subs. I have my deck picked out but was wondering what are the best speakers to get in the front and back that would sound the best in my car. Is there any way to get bigger speakers in the front(larger than 4") and back(larger than 5.25") without it being too much of a hassle? And how do I go about installing them?
Thanks |

yes...pioneer...or you can always go with the low end models or alpine gear...that stuff sounds way way better than a high end sony crap system

Re: stereo in my '91
you have to take off the whole back deck. there should be a few screws you can get to from the trunk, and then there's a few plastic clips to pop off then it should slide out

Re: stereo in my '91
nope...seat belts shouldn't need to be taken out. not 100% sure of that because i'm used to working on my 93, but the seat belt shouldn't be an issue.

ok, well i got a bit of a problem. I tryed to take the board out. there's like 4 or 5 body pins that hold it down. then i tryed to wedge it out. ( i just got this car, i had a honda so im not to sure how to do it and i dont think this way was the right way.) Anyways, the board is old in the car of course.. i think there might have been a water leak or moisture getting to it because when i went to pull it out, it kinda just buckled.. i didnt really pull it hard. I just tryed to yank it a bit to see if that was tha way to do it. Im just wondering if there's a way to get it out. The seatbelts are becoming to present a problem. Their holding the board in. Any tips you have to help please let me know.

Pioneer makes 4" speakers...google it and you should be able to find them pretty quickly.

On my 1991 corolla, I did have to remove the bolts for the seat belts, but I was only able to take off one of them, so I was lucky enough to pivot the rear deck enough to take out the rear speakers. I only reached underneath the rear deck to place dynamat around the speakers, but didn't want to try removing those bolts again. I think the 93 corolla seat belts aren't conjoined on the side panels, I think they rerouted them behind the seats. |
