Engine and Tranny swap

Wassup guys, it's Tito, I've got a friend who's got a Q for y'all.

Hey, wassup, I've got a '98 2200 and I'm looking to do an engine swap w/ a 2.4L. I also want to convert it to a 5spd. I was wondering if any of you guys know whether or not the 2.4L drops in as the 2200 did or if it's diff. I'm also wondering how hard it's going to be to convert my automatic to a manual, and what I'm going to need apart from the tranny and the obvious. Can anyone here answer this? I'd appreciate the feedback.

Re: Engine and Tranny swap

way better off buying a new car, but why switch to a 2.4? they are fragile and problematic. run good when new, but as they get older, they have a bunch of problems.

Re: Engine and Tranny swap

I know it's better off buying a new car, the problem is, I kinda don't want to do that cuz I've put alot of money into the car's looks (rims, body kit, lowering springs, exhaust, projector lights). If there wasn't so much money in it, I'd sell it in a heartbeat.

Re: Engine and Tranny swap

well isnt there a way u can take off what u have find a 98 cav with a 5 speed and then get what ever engine u want? cuz u will save ur self lots of problems with the switching and what have you. But u insist on switching it over..i would just look in junkyards for a 2.4 with a 5 speed get BOTH at once and put it in togeather...save u lots of time...and i think most of the eletronics are the same??? currect me if im wrong cuz im not 100% sure on that...and u might/will need different motor mounts and tranny mouts?
