What muffler sounds best for an 89 C1500?
I have an 89 C1500 (as you can all tell by my other five billion posts) I gutted the cat and clamped it back on, and it sounds pretty close to as loud as it was before when i had the glass pack and cat on (and deeper). Now all i have is a "magna-flow" muffler
cheapest one i could find cuz i was broke at the time and had a $170 something ticket for it being illegal, and the gutted cat. it goes into a single 2 1/2 inch pipe after the downpipe and headers or whatever, then goes through the gutted cat and to the muffler and after that it splits into 3 inch dual tips. Im just wondering what muffler would sound best with this setup. Also Im going to be buying new tips and would going bigger/longer ect. make it sound better? any help would be good.this is my post about my cat, it kinda explains generally my exhaust and has lots of pics of it. Exhaust post

Re: What muffler sounds best for an 89 C1500?
Recently I modified my exhaust by putting on 3" pipes back to a high performance cat and a Dynamax American Thunder muffler. My requirements were a strong mellow sound that wouldn't wake the neighbors at 5AM nor drown out conversation in the cab.
Have to say I'm pretty happy. |

Yeah i heard American Thunder was good. I am looking into a flowmaster but i dunno if i should get 40 or 80 series, but im keeping in mind AMT and others. I have a 2 1/2 and its not true dual with a gutted cat so i dunno what to get, plus an electronic valve exhaust cut out im planning on getting very soon. I have another post thats more in depth and all about it named "new LOUD exhaust" in this forum. It would be cool if you guys could help me out on that post so i dont get banned for too many of the same type
Thanks fer the response buddy.
