Lightbulb Quick Question

Hello i'm new here, I love American muscle cars. I don't own a car my self sadly I have a friend we were talking and he said the new "silvia/ skyline would own any American muscle car and even farriers" I came here because I was telling him how stupid he is lol, and I just wonted to make sure that he wasn't right. So could a silvia or a skyline beat any American muscle car? I'm not even going to ask about farriers because I already know the answer.

Re: Quick Question

The real question here is: Who cares? Even if they were a tad faster than a 35 year old American car, you would still be seen driving jap crap...

It depends on the model and how far the race is and if the cars are stock. Stock for stock those cars would take out quite a few muscle cars. Modded for Modded, through the 1/4 mile the muscle would take those cars, but anything like a mile or more long race the skyline would probably catch up and not look back.

Re: Quick Question

The skyline is a quick car. it puts out roughly about 260 hp stock through an inline six. But as Carrol Shelby said "there is no replacement for displacement"

Re: Quick Question

I'll never race one anyways so I couldn't care less.

Muscle cars are rice-repellant, around here anyways.

Stock for stock, many modern cars with much less power than the grand old big motor behemoth can keep pace or go faster than them.

It all really comes down to the fact that a big tire in 1970 was a G70-15 bias-ply, while a big tire nowadays is a radial ZR30-19.

More rubber on the road, better launch, more acceleration. This is why a 1967 Corvette L88 with 600odd horsepower (430 claimed) runs a 13.8second 1/4mile and a new C6 with 400hp runs a 12.7second 1/4.
