Re: USDM & JDM

I'm so sick of researching about this pos. I just use it to get to work and back. I'm no enthusiast, just want the lights and speedo to work. I just hope that the parts I'm looking for will work on my vehicle. I can't take it to the shops around here because they run it and shrug their shoulders. Thanks much for the info.

Re: USDM & JDM

I have the same problem where I am. I end up doing all the work myself because even the Honda "specialists" shop (they call themselves Formula-H) don't know shit about anything aftermarket. It can be a pain in the ass. That's how I found this place last year.

Re: USDM & JDM

You'd think people at the service shops that have been exposed to these vehicles for many years would have a clue. I haven't even had any responses on here so this car must have really unique problems.

Re: USDM & JDM

Give the guy some respect here. I didn't know what it was till I asked someone. I thought it was some kind of body kit, really! But in truth, JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market and USDM is the United States Domestic Market. when someone means they get a jdm Part, It's strictly from Japan cars. Hope that helps!

U want to hear something funny. Last year I stopped by the honda dealership to look at the si hatchback and a salesman came out. I wanted to see how well he knew the car and I asked him everything. He didn't know squat cause I asked him about the what color it was (it was the blue) and if I could get JDM parts on it. He said it was baby bright blue, yeah right, and then he said he has stock loads of jdm oil and tires in the garage. I know he didn't know jackshit cause no dealer has JDM parts unless you order them?

Re: USDM & JDM

Yep, JDM oil. U heard right! That salesman had no clue what it was, all he cared about was him selling me something. I also forgot to say that he said he had bodykit's in the garage also for. JDM ones. I'm not stupid, but I know for a fact that they bearly had bodykits for si's in 2002, the year they came out. I laughed my ass off when I left.

So, does this mean that if I find a JDM speedo unit it will not work on a car mfg'd in the US?

That depends on what model civic it is. Alot of times, you deal with wiring issues on JDM clusters. Especially my 4g!
