Question stock Cobra can take 1000 hp!?

"One of the main selling points of the '03 Cobra is that it comes with an engine that experts say will take more than 1,000 hp before components begin to fail." 5.0 & Super Fords March 2004

Now I am a big fan of the 03 Cobra but I find this very hard to believe. I would have to see it first before I believed it. Also, who are these "experts" they talk about? Do you guys believe this or are you like me and calling b.s.? I'm also wondering if anybody here has some first hand information that could clear this up. Thanks

I know the aluminum block was supposed to handle 800 plus, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Iron version is even stronger.

It's true.... the block, the crank, the rods, pistons and on can take that much punishment. No one is saying at this level it will last 100,000miles or anything but it will be a lot more than a one pass wonder at that level.

Forged Internals, Iron Block. Need I say more? There are parts that will not handle that much power, halfshafts, clutch, transmission etc. but the internals should be fine. Don't expect to do it with the stock supercharger though.

Re: stock Cobra can take 1000 hp!?

It's built with stout forged pistons with a thick crown, forged manley rods proven to 1000+ horsepower, and a great crank proven to WELL OVER 1000 horsepower. Nothing about the 03's motor tells me it shouldn't be able to make 1000+ horsepower.
