Working on it 3 weeks now??

Recently purchased a 4dr 96 Civic LX that has PW & PDL, the door locks dont work. I know the factory radio controls the KEYLESS entry, but I dont need fac. keyless, I want the locks to work.

So, after probing w/ meter and getting nowhere, a guy at a local stereo shop said that an aftermarket alarm would control the locks! I installed a DEI alarm which works perfect except the door locks, Nothing! Did more probing and I figured the actuators may be blown somehow? Replaced them.... Nothing! OK Im pissed! I then conclude that it must be the door lock control relay in the door right?....Nope! did that and nothing! DAMMIT

Maybe I still need the radio? Do I have any other options? this guy says that he can hook up some relays in it (w/out buying the radio) for $80 plus $20 for relays, but I know a little bit about relays. does anyone know how it is wired I can do it myself!

Re: Working on it 3 weeks now??

I am pretty sure the OEM radio only controls the keyless system and not the locks themselves. Find the lock wire (green/white - driver kick, blue plug) and unlock wire (green/orange - driver kick, blue plug). They are also found in the green factory alarm plug located behind the radio. If you ground either one, it should lock or unlock. You can check the motor wires themselves (Lock=white/red , Unlock=blue/red to yellow/red) to see if you are getting either a ground or 12v when you press your lock/unlock button. I think if one of your buttons are bad, it will keep the locks from working too but not too sure on that one. Yes, the guy could wire some relays in the doors but they shouldn't have to.

I know my Civic's door lock switch is good, it fit in a Accord and worked those locks. I checked the 3 switch wires (grn/wht, black and grn/ornge) and i was getting full ground , but when switched, the current on both grn wires dropped 1/10 point on the meter; the black wire stayed constant. I tested the Accord switch and current on the same wires dropped all the way to 0 then went back up to 13. what makes the current drop? when i figure that out maybe i find an answer
