Question Need Help...replacing ignition cylinder

hey guys...first time posting on here...hopefully I can get some help here...my ignition locked up yesterday in my 97 GP after trying to move it with a key I had made and the key had gotten stuck in the ignition...so I asked around and I work at a car dealership and they told me it was probably just a tumbler messed up when I worked the key out....but instead of worryin about gettin it fixed I just bought a new cylinder...(I think thats what it is)...just the part where the key goes in...but anyway...I need to know how to take the existing one out...I don't want to mess anything up taking it out or anything...do I need a special tool or anything? any help is GREATLY appreciated!!...thanks!!!

Re: Need Help...replacing ignition cylinder

Most ign cylinders are removed by placing the key in the accessory position before removiing the screw/depressing the spring lock. If your ignition is stuck due to a bent tumbler, it can make the job much more difficult. Since you work at a dealer, they should have the proper procedure you need to follow if the key can't be put in the accessory position
