What is this plug for?
I purchased a 1995 240sx w/ a blown headgasket, replaced that and it runs good but I have been trying to clean it up to sell it and I notice a plug that isn't plugged in anywhere, the plug is on a harness next to the battery, (look below the battery if you are facing it it is to your right, it is on a harness that goes twords the headlights and another plug that is right beside it and on the same harness plugs into something that has to do w/ the ac (dryer or something)) Can someone tell me what this plug is for? I looked on another 95 SE (mine is not an se) and the se had this plug plugged into a plug that is on a hanger right next to this ac piece, I get home take a look at mine and I have the hanger but no plug to match up w/ mine....

what it sounds like your describing is the data port I believe....all OBD-II cars have themunder the dash and they look like a monitor plug or printer plug kind of.... the pre obdII style have different ones.
I've never scanned a 240sx so I don't know for sure. But fords etc have that same setup... one plug that kind of looks like the side of a house and another small square one right next to it. The other car where u said it was plugged into something was probably just the holder/cap.. some half ass probably scanned the car or something and never bothered to put it back. |

thanks for attempting to answer my question (so scarcasm) it's more then most people on here will do, yes 240's do have the plug and they are under the dash on the drivers side. This plug actually goes to something and is next to the battery under the hood. Not exactly sure where you got the idea that it was inside the car.

even so the 95 runs on a OBDII diagnostic port which by the way is on the passenger side compartment near the centerconsole and the glove box, we use 2 oxygen sensors as well. anyways back to what your describing sounds like the harness that goes from the a/c reciever dryer to the a/c fan.

i've been at the street racing forums, since i was turned off by some of the posts in this forum. however i do drop by ocasssionally to help out with cool stuff. but its been alot better lately so i might stay and help out more. but the KA still runs great. i just ported my manifold, since it was a revhard, and it could either be used for a T3 or a T4, when i took the whole setup apart for maintainess last week it hit me, the port size was only for a T3 so i took a grinder and took off 1 inch of metal on each size and the port now matches up the port of my T4 perfectly. the car doesn't feel much faster though so i was dissapointed with the results, however my 5th gear part throttle got more responsive.

AC fan...? shouldn't that be in the cab of the car and not at the very front of the car RIGHT next to the battery just a little lower down next to what appears to be the ac dryer? I'm just curious, cause there isn't a fan or anything else that I can find on my car to plug that plug into.

thanks for clearing up the issues about the data port TAT......
some 95 cars did use the OBD-II style plug but still don't have the actual OBD-II system. |

for our cars there are two fans, one is hte traditional engine driven clutch type fan, the other one is a electrical fan. the electrical fan is located next to the battery on the right side of the radiator. it is a pull type fan. its only half the length of the whole radiator. it will only come on when you press the a/c button with the fan on, and when the car hits a certain temp it will come on as a assist to the mechanical fan. what you can do to see if its there is by letting hte car idle, then turn on you a/c and see if you hear any additional fans coming on. the fan that you were mistaken for is a blower fan. which i have no clue where that is lolz.

Re: What is this plug for?
ok well apparently I am missing that other fan.... I bought a fan shroud because the car didn't have one when I bought it but the radiator had been replaced, so I'm guessing when they replaced the radiator they didn't put the electric fan back on.... also it didn't look like there was any room for this electric fan to fit in there, but that does make since, however the ac blows VERY cold in this car always, is this fan something I should worrie about? Do I need to buy another one to replace it?

the fan does help in the summer, and that electric fan is very slim from the factory, it fits right in there between the fanshroud and the radiator, don't ask how, it just fits lolz. anyways i would never suggest you get another one unless its from a junk yard. the dealer wants $350 for one. what a rip off!!

it sure does. it makes it sound like a truck at stop go traffic. and when i replaced my fan with dual electric fans the car definitly wants to rev more.
