Would You Recommend This? 1987 RX-7...
My friend is selling his 1987 Mazda RX-7 GXL N/A. It has about 160,000 miles on it. He is a car guy so he definetly takes care of his engine and does tune ups and such. The paint job is pretty bad and looks like it will need a new one. The interior is kinda torn up in places, but he has replaced the dash with a carbon fiberglass aftermarket dashboard. The sunroof has been taped up because it leaks. It has a Pioneer CD Player with an amp and subs (not worth over $200). I think I can get him to go down to $700 selling price for me. Do you guys think it is a good deal? I know the RX-7 rotary engines need a rebuild after 125,000 miles or so, but he says the engine is still strong. I COULD replace my 1994 Geo Prizm with this car, but how much will my insurance go up (17 year old driver?). I might buy it for $600 then resell it for a profit if you think it is possible. What do you think? Thanks.

Umm, the N/A motors have been known to go into the 200,000 mile range. $600-$700 is a good price for that car.

yea if hes a car guy then it will probably last a long time still... for that price you'd better replace your prizm with it... and I'm 17 and only pay 87 bucks a month for insurance.
if its your friend selling it don't rip him off, thats just messed up

Well you see my Prizm only has 102k miles and is basically in good -excellent condition. Im sure the Prizm would drive another 85k miles easily since it has a Corolla engine, I just wouldnt want the RX-7 to crap out on me.

I've never seen 400k+ but I've seen 280ish and my cousin has his at 185 or so right now and it runs good, well except that his clutch went out
