If it just the drive shaft seal then that is a super easy fix.
A Haynes manual will help you. I spray painted a mark on the drive shaft so I could assemble/align it back exactly - to keep the balance.

If you want to replace the seal between the transmission and the transfer case you will have to remove both drive shafts and remove the transfer case.

The job is not difficult except for the fact that the transfer case is very heavy. I used a transmission jack to help me.

Cost for parts from NAPA.
$8.87 for the Trans/Transfer case seal.
$13.42 for the transfer case/drive shaft seal.

I recommend a seal driver to protect the new seal when setting it in place.

Re: transfer case leak

Thanks.its not the transmission T/Case seal, but the seal exactly at the front of the T/Case. the driveshaft goes into something & That something goes into the transfer case. It has a circlular edge. This is were it leaks. I think its the T/Case /drive shaft seal. Do i still have to remove the whole T/case to fix this. Can i just remove the driveshaft at the end and fix the seal. 93 GC 4.0 Qaudra trac

Re: transfer case leak

CaribbeanZJ

Should be able to remove the drive shaft, remove the nut holding the yoke/flange to the TC front output shaft and replace the seal.

I haven't looked at mine but I don't think there is a housing to remove to get at the seal. It should come right out with a "seal puller".
