88 Civic stalls
Halo forum,
My 88 Civic stalls when I am driving. This happens when I depress the clutch and let of the gas. To prevent it cutting off I have to pump the gas lightly twice. The engine revs drop suddenly when I let off the gas that the car just cuts and pumping lightly makes it come up and go down slowly untill the Idle holds. I have discovered that if I let the gas peddle slowly and ease out the car will go to Idle without stalling but sometimes this is not posible. What to do? Help forum |

How many Rpm's is the car idleing at? Maybe your idlle is a little low. Have you had a tune up? Replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor? If your ride is fuel injected have the F.I. cleaned.

The civic revs at 1000rpm on Idle which will once in a while drop to 750rpm during the same Idle. One more thing, whenever I start the car, it revs up well for a minute and then will rev up and down and stall and less I hold the gas or drive it for just a few yards. When it gets hot it will sometimes hold it's rpm at 2k even at idle untill I pull up the gas peddle which seems to get stuck. I did change spark plugs and wires 3 years ago and cleaned the plugs 1-1/2 years ago or so.
