Transmission Clatter

My '98 transmission makes a clatter sound when I really get on the gas. Under normal driving it is fine. While dealing with a major intake leak on my wifes Ford Windstar van her transmission made the same sound until I fixed it. It of course was a lot worse since her intake leak was severe and any acceleration made the transmission clatter. Now that the van is fixed the transmission makes no sounds at all.
Could I possibly have a vacuum leak somewhere causing this clatter in my transmission? 128,000 miles on the truck.
