Re: Fuel meter goes crazy

My 94 LHS does that too, I haven't had a chance to see if it's a wiring problem or if the Fuel Level Sender is going bad, but i'm banking on the sender as sometimes as the fuel level goes down the guage doesn't work at all then works again as the fuel gets used up, At least it will register the last 1/4 of a tank so I don't run out of gas. The downside is to replace the sender you also have to replace the fuel Pump as they are a unit assembly. The upside (Yes there actually is one!) is that the Gas Tank does not have to be removed or drained to replace it, There is an access panel under the floor mat in the trunk area behind the rear seat that you can remove to gain access to the top of the Fuel Tank to replace the Fuel Pump assembly, wish they all were like that! This also applies to Concordes, New Yorkers, Intrepids, and Eagle Visions, not sure about the 300M though. Also remember, relieve the pressure in the Fuel System before servicing or you WILL get a gasoline bath! also NO SMOKING!

Re: Fuel meter goes crazy

Identical problem with my 1999 LHS...but as long as it goes up to its normal position it can do whatever it wants !
