2004 RSX Type-S vs 2001 Prelude Sh

Which would you say is the better of these two cars? I mean for a daliy driver that can be used as a track car and stay pretty reliable.

I know they are both hondas so reliability will be pretty good.

The Prelude has the bigger engine, but mkaes the same Hp as the Rsx.

The Rsxx has 143 tq while the lude has 156.

The Rsx has a nicer interior, but the lude extirior looks better (unless the Rsx is equipped with a Type-R kit).

Which would you pick and why?

The RSX S is faster in a straight line, but the Prelude SH handles better. I like the interior of the RSX better, but the exterior of the Prelude. If I were to pick one overall, I'd go with the Prelude SH. They perform about the same, but the RSX S is more common.

Re: 2004 RSX Type-S vs 2001 Prelude Sh

the rsx is definately faster if its a 5th gen. lude ... the 5th gen. 's weight too much , like 31 or 3200 pounds compared to the 2750*(rough guess) of the type s ... type s has shorter gearing and a much more advanced I-VTEC engine as well . They make a JDM lude that pushes 220hp called the Prelude type S , but the JDM dc5 Integra/RSX type R will out perform that on any race track ... as far as looks goes , i like the RSX a little better but i still love the prelude look alot ...

I own a type S- and I love preludes- but I spanked a modded SAH that was a stick- had basic CAI, exhaust, header, by a car and a half. I love the way preludes look though, but there is not much aftermarket support. something to think about...

yup they said it all. the interior goes to RSX hands down. exterior the prelude is much better. performance is similar but the RSX is alittle faster. even though i picked the RSX, the prelude is very very close. ( mostly for looks )

lude all the way! dont get me wrong i'd love a type s but i hate the rear lights... the sh would totally out manuver the rsx easy, so that 200 lb diff wouldnt make too much of a diff with the atts. . and IMO straight lines are for wussies, goin fast in a straight line doesnt prove jack, just depends on how much money you have. takes no skill at all except needing a little experience at shifting.

id go with the prelude, mainly for its looks. also, the prelude doesnt weigh that much more, its curb weight is right under, or a little more than 3000 lbs. something like 2950-3042 lbs. vs the rsx's curb weight of about 2800 lbs. and the prelude has a slightly bigger engine, so it should make more hp/tq.

Just FYI, base model 5th gens weigh 2954 lbs. and SH models weigh 3042 lbs., so I dont know where you're getting 3100/3200 lbs. from

You guys are forgetting the main thing about this comparison. The RSX Type-S is equipped with a K20A engine which is way more responsive to mods than the Prelude's H22A engine, so simple bolt-ons such as I/H/E will make the RSX alot quicker.

neither engine is responsive to mods, remember the magazine article where they put 5k in a k20 and got 15hp, thats weak. but i would get a 4th gen lude. the 5th gens are kinda plain as well as the rsx.

Re: 2004 RSX Type-S vs 2001 Prelude Sh

Well I/H/E doesn't add a ton of hp tp a car under normal circumstances (obviously depending on the car)

But, the RSX doesn't take well at all to boost, while the H22 apparently does take better to boost than your average Honda

In terms of general drivability, the RSX should be a better option, as its considered one of (if not the most) refined car compared to its competition

I heard you can get around 10 hp for i/h/e; shouldn't cost 5000 to get five more. (the k20 is the rsx, right?
)

Re: 2004 RSX Type-S vs 2001 Prelude Sh

I think the prelude is actually quite ugly. Then again the RSX is as well. Lesser of two evils? :P

I'd go for the RSX.
