Swapping an in-dash CD for a cassette player

I am looking to buy a 1998 5401 that has an in-dash cassette player that I would like to replace with a CD player. Does anyone know whether you can simply swap the head units or is it a more involved job?

yes you can...very easily...but good luck finding the in dash cd player...bmw sells them for about $800. If you find one let me know cause I want to do the same thing.

I recently found out that I can get an indash CD for about $530.00 OEM. It's still pretty expensive though.
