Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
I know the dizzy wasn't supposed to bolt up right, they said use some washers or something, but washers won't help this...anyone got any suggestions? Thanks! I'm dirty as hell and I've been working on this all day.

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
to use the a6 dizzy on a z6 head you need to notch the legs of the dizzy, basiclly cut open on side of the mounting point on the dizzy. then you will be able to get it to mount a lil better.

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
I'm wondering if you can just use the core of the z6 dizzy (the solid metal casing with ALL the internals removed and just swap over the pm6 internals). Not sure if anyone has ever tried this but it might be worth a shot because it would allow u to be able to adjust timing. I have two dx dizzys laying around...i'll see how hard it is to swap over the remove the complete internals and then reinstall them.

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
thanks guys, I found out how to get it in there for now, I got everything back together and now the car won't even turn over, it's like it's not grounded..power comes on but when you go to crank it, it does nothing and the lights just dim and there's a fast clicking sound from the dash

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
yes that sounds like a ground problem. check to make sure your thermostat ground is hoked up, that is the #1 culprit

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
modify your distributor like this with a dremel. Remove the parts covered in black. Basically slot the holes out. |

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
oh and btw, on every mini-me setup that i've experienced, the proper placement of the distributor verified with a timing light.....
rotate the distributor towards teh firewall so that the top bolt is barely on. |

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
Ok, I did that, now when I turn it over for a while it will every so slowly start up, but then it runs like chitty chitty bang bang- ca chug ca chug ca chug like real slow, so I shut it off...i know there is a timing issue, but which way to go?

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
make sure your crank and cam are lined up, that'll cause more trouble than ignition...

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
yea, i made sure they were lined up when I started...but that didn't work...on a z6 is it straight up on the cam gear or tilted a little to the front of the head like the si? (to align the cam)

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
i run mine tiltled slightly to the front... so that it runs with the angle of the engine... either way with as tight as the timing belt is, its pretty much hit or miss... you either got it or its off by a tooth...

Re: Mini-me swap almost done-NEED HELP!
I realigned the crankpulley and the cam gear, and it starts up now and runs, just there is some clicking noises that I don't like so I just shut it off...
still timing? |
