2000 S-10 Enging Problems

I hope someone can help me out.

Recently, I have not been able to start my truck. Everything has operated normally and oil has been changed recently. The truck will turn over but it won't start. Any suggestions?

I have already tested the battery and it is normal. What else should I look at without having to take it to a shop?

Thanks!

Dustin

Re: 2000 S-10 Enging Problems

Can you hear the fuel pump running? You should hear it whine right after you turn the key on as it pressurizes the fuel system. Even if it is running, check the fuel pressure, the pump could still be weak. If that's ok, its something ignition related. Tons of things it could be there, VATS system problem, short, ECM problem, etc.

Good luck!

Re:

Well, here's what I've come up with so far:

The fuel pump is working but I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet. I have used starter fluid and the engine fires that way but it's not getting any fuel. I am wondering if it could be something as little as the fuel filter...but I don't know much about this stuff.

Also, a friend told me that there is a mesh sock-like thing inside the fuel tank that could possibly get clogged and not allow fuel through. What do you think?

Re: 2000 S-10 Enging Problems

Always start simple. If it hasn't been replaced before, try the filter first. Easy and cheap to do, but you will need to make sure there is no pressure on the fuel system, and may need a special tool to release the line from the filter (don't remember in this one). If you're not familiar with things, the best suggestion is to pick up a good shop manual if you think you will be doing work on it yourself in the future. Unfortunately the best manuals (Helms) are kinda pricey, but a Chiltons manual will get you through the basics.

If your blazer has a fuse panel under the hood. I know how to fix it.there is a red connector block. the contacts are loose or corroded.

Flip the fuse panel upside down then turn the key on. wiggle the wires atached to the red block and you'll hear your pump turn on.
