93 Sable starter issues

I have a 93 sable with 135k miles on it. It runs a little rough and is in definate need of a tune up. This morning I went out to start it and I got nothing. The open door chime worked and the radio and all accessories as well, but when I would turn the key the starter wouldn't even make a sound at all. I'm thinking it is just a dead starter that needs to be replaced, but a guy at my work said it could be a loose or corroded (sp?) ground wire.

Could a loose ground wire keep the starting from turning? I was curious as to how many ground wires a 93 sable has and where they are generally located. I'm not a total novice in car repair, but I haven't dealt with electrical systems at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

A corroded or dirty battery cable can cause the symptoms you describe. Suggest that you clean both the terminals and the battery posts with a wire brush and try it again.
