95 Mazda 626 transmission
I have read all the problems folks have had with the 626 transmissions between 94 and 2000. I have a '95 with 65K miles and no problems so far. Does anyone know what the failure rate is of these transmissions or where I can find info that might give me an idea of what the probability is that I will have a problem?
Thanks, Doug. |

Re: 95 Mazda 626 transmission
overheating is the biggest problem add a transmission oil cooler will make a big difference. if the vehicle is driven hard for a long period of time the trans overheats. like due to not shuting of the overdrive driving up a steep grade

Re: Re: 95 Mazda 626 transmission
I'm hoping it's a matter also of whether or not it's been beat. Maybe they work okay and can give a good 150K of service or so, but just can't take a beating. This particular one was traded in by a lady lawyer and seemed to have had 'by the book' maintenance work done. She didn't sound like she was part of the zoom-zoom crowd so maybe I'll be okay.

626 with manual trnnys never have problems, if you have a auto tranny, then LOOK OUT

Re: Re: 95 Mazda 626 transmission
My brother is in need of an automatic transmission with overdrive for his 1995 Mazda 626 LX 4 cylinder. If anyone knows where I can purchase one, please let me know. I am in Utah but willing to purchase one outside of Utah if it can be shipped.
Thank you. |
