95 Neon won't run for long

I just got a 95 neon and it is acting a little funny. Sometimes it starts up fairly easily and sits there and idles for a few minutes then it starts to stutter and then dies, when it does it is firing when you crank it over but it will not run (or is very hard to get it to run) and if it does fire up it dosen't run for long. It is not throwing any codes at all. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am not that familiar with the 2.0L

I was just messing with the car some more and noticed that as soon as it starts to stutter the tail lights come on?? and they come when you are turning the engine over after it has quit. I am starting to think there is a wiring problem somewhere that is killing the power to the pump??

any ideas?

i would check the battery for charge.. if your altornator is not charging the battery that might happen, other wise i would check and make sure your cylinders are getting fuel... and sparkplugs are fireing.
