Starter is stuck

My 88 T-Bird would not pass emmissions so it was parked for awhile. When I tried to start it, the starter got stuck. I was told because of low voltage, just beat on starter and it would unstick. Done that. Didn't work. Windows are down because I am stupid and that is the first thing I did when I got in the car. Now, I can't get the windows up and a storm is on the way. Battery is charged. What to do?

Re: Starter is stuck

Can you hear any noise inside the door when you try to let the windows up?

Have you checked to see if you have a loose connection?

You can at least put some plastic or something like it over the windows.

Re: Starter is stuck

The heavy doors on the birds beat the shit out of those motors. Many times have I had to pound the console with my fist while holding the Window Up button to get it to respond. This happened in both my 86 and my 93.

Also, you might want to try putting them up while having your car jumped by another. The windows take a lot of juice out of a non-running car, so just because the interior lights and seatbelt work, it doesn't mean that your battery is fully charged. Hope this helps!

To all of you - try not to close your doors too hard if the windows aren't all the way up! If the windows ARE up, then the trapped air at least slows down the momentum of the door as it shuts. My friends back in highschool used to get so irritated by my common outbursts of, "DUDE! DON'T SLAM THE DOOR, ASSHOLE!" Hehe. They still give me hell about it to this day - 13 years later!
