93 Maxima ignition will click relays, but not turn engine.
I'm writing on behalf of my brother who is the owner of a 93 Nissan
Maxima. The problem he's having has to deal with the ignition. He can turn the key all the way to the on position, the relays click, but the engine does'nt turn over. Now, if he takes a puts a jumper wire under the hood going from the starter to a positive power source, the car will turn over but will only stay running stay on as long as the key is in the on position. He's called Nissan on numerous occasions, and they just don't want to deal with this problem. He's double and triple checked all the curcuits and changed relays galore, yett still nothing. Any suggestions?? His alarm system works, everything works electrical with the exception that the ignition will not turn the engine over and start. He even checked all the fusible links, and still nothing. |

I don't know when the last tune up this vehicle had but check ( I recommend replacing) the distibutor cap and rotor for the spark plugs. If still nothing then try replacing the starter, or if you don't wish to dump $300 on a new starter take it to a Nissan dealership and see if they can at least give you a direction to go with in replacement parts... *talk to the mechanics in the shop working on the vehicles not the reps at the desk*
