2000 Grand AM flex plate

My daughter has a 2000 Grand AM with 36,000 miles on it. Recent trip to our mechanic indicates she has a broken flex plate and he has recommended replacing it before any damage may be done to automatic transmission. He has suggested checking if GM has issued a recall for such a problem as he says mileage is too low to have such a problem. I have searched but have found nothing. Would appreciate any comments on this matter.

Re: 2000 Grand AM flex plate

i have not heard of that going bad. Call GM dealer and ask them if it is a common problem. You may look into fixing it your self to save on labor.
