Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

Does it happen even when you have the driver's side seat belt fastened? If so, the sensor inside the clasp may be bad, or there could possibly be a short in the connection to the clasp sensor. I had this problem, all I did was yank the bulb out...hadn't had any electrical problems since then.

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

There could also be a problem with the passenger seat weight sensor. You may have something on the passenger's seat that is triggering the weight sensor. It may also be malfunctioning. It may be signaling that there is someone sitting in the passenger seat when there really isn't. Either of these would cause the same symptoms as what you are talking about.

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

Never knew there was a passenger weight sensor, but now that it's been brought to my attention there is, it is a likely cause of a the problem. Check the both out...let us know if you need any further help or if you get it figured out. Best of luck.

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

I don't know that there is either, but alot of cars have them. I am not familiar enough with '89 Camrys to know if some models had them or not. Tough to find out these details without going to the library...

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

All I know is that I've never heard of a Gen 4 with them, so I automatically assumed that the older ones didn't have them.

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

Accords have had them forever, as does my 4Runner.

Re: Flashing Seat Belt Light

I've heard of the 4Runners being equipped with them...never the Accords or Camrys.

I've had this exact problem with mine too. All I did was spray some electrical contact cleaner into the female end and...voila!!.....end of problem. Definitely cheap and worth a try.
