77gp motor swap

i know my love for gas guzzling v8's might be hard for you guys to swallow, but i was wondering if anyone here knows about 1970's pontiac v8's in any kind of detail. m looking to put a 6.6L 400cu v8 into a 4.9L 301cu car. i figure that a 450hp grand prix will stomp some blue oval rustang ass! thanks guys

Re: 77gp motor swap

It should be a direct swap. The motor mount location, exhaust manifold ports and trans bolt pattern are all teh same on all Pontiac v-8's except the Hi-po 455's and Tri powers of the 60's. Stick with an electric choke carb to eliminate the hassles of a thermatic choke, and get Stang Banging
