02 HID's on 02 Maxima

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how long these

HID's last, and when they go out can I just replace them

with regular Halogen bulbs without doing anything major

to the headlight system? I was wondering, they look

really neat, but I heard they cost alot .

The 02 owner's manual says that the life of the HIDs will be reduced by turning them on and off excessively, so it sounds like there is a predicted cycle life. I asume that they are covered in warranty.

i worked for Acura & I was told that they last for an average of 10 years & if they blow out they cost anywhere from $200-$600 (depending on car maker) unless they go out prematurely then it should be covered under warrenty.

From what I've heard they are meant to last about 15 years. But, nobody's perfect!!
