Angry A/C Quit

My A/C quit on the way to work today. The compressor will still run, but no cool air. There is also an oil substance on my dash vents

Any ideas on what went out?

Sounds like the condensor sprang a leak. In simple terms, its like your heater core, but the opposite for a/c. Get it fixed quickly or your drier will need to be replaced too.

Hmmm... that's a weird one. *usually* the compressor wont run with low system pressure (such as a leak). The compressor will chew itself up with no refrigerent- since the refrigerent also lubes the compressor. Start with the simple stuff- I assume the blower is working as it should, make sure the selector knob settings coincide with what vents are working. Could be a stuck/broken louver/diverter. Make sure the engine isnt running hot & the electric radiator fan cycles on/off as it should with the a/c on (if your truck is equiped with an auto trans)
G/luck
Joel

I don't know, maybe they'll find something else once the compressor is replaced.

Well, the AC got fixed today. Total = $1340

They put in a brand new Isuzu compressor, over $800. Plus a new dryer.

Glad I bought that ext. warranty !!!
