Horn Won't Work!

I have a 96 Aurora that I've owned for two years. I just found this forum last week and thought I'd give all of you a question. I would be grateful for any help.

The horn has never worked. I can't afford to take it in to the dealer so I'm hoping for some luck through here.

I need to be more specific. The horn or should I say horns actually do work, but just not from the sterring wheel pad. I can set them off by way of the security system and they both blow loud and true, just no luck from the sterring wheel.

I dropped the sterring wheel pad/air bag assy down and made sure that the spring loaded "push in and turn to lock" wire pin is in good order. The grounding clip is also in it's proper place. Both connectors to the air bag are fine and there is no corrosion of any kind. In other words, all is hooked up and looks fine, just no horn!

Any suggestions? I'm pretty handy mechanically so if someone can lead me in some direction here I think I will be able to fix it. Is there an in-line fuse or fusable link somewhere? I also checked the fuse box that sits on the passenger side of the radiator under the hood and the fuse and horn module are fine as well.

THANKS one and all for any help!!!!

Do you have any aftermarket electronic equipment installed ?
Check terminals 85 and 30 of the relay for twelve volts
When you dropped the steering wheel pad/air bag did you try earth out the black wire to the horn from the relay ?
Check the circuit from the horn button to B1 on the relay with an OHM meter.
There may be a fusible link in the black wire after the horn button
If this fails you may need to run a new wire from the horn button to B1 on the relay.

Re: Horn Won't Work!

HORNS DO NOT SOUND

Remove Horn Relay and check for battery voltage at relay connector terminals 30 and 85.
If battery voltage is present at both terminals, go to step 2.
If battery voltage is not present at terminal(s), check RED (1142) wiring and Right Front Underhood Relay Center "HORN" Fuse for an open.
With Horn Switch depressed, measure voltage from relay connector terminal 85 to terminal 86.
If battery voltage is present, go to step 3.
If battery voltage is not present, check BLK (28) wiring for an open; check in-line Connector C202 for proper terminal contact; check Spring Loaded Contact, Slip Ring, and Horn Switch for an open.
Connect a fused jumper from relay connector terminal 30 to terminal 87.
If horns do not sound, go to step 4.
If horns sound, replace Horn Relay.
Disconnect suspect horn connector. Connect a fused jumper from suspect horn terminal B (DK ORN) to positive battery terminal.
If horn sounds, check wiring to Horn Relay for an open or short to ground
If horn does not sound, check that G103 is clean and tight, and check BLK (1350) wiring for an open, if OK, replace suspect horn.
