78 needs engine help please
Hey me and my dad just pulled out our 1978 trans am and we wnat to get it runnin again it has been kept in the garage and not ran very often so we took it out and started her up, it started and took awhile to burn off the old gas but then was fine but when u press the pedal to the floor the engine kills unless u let off the pedal we just replaced the valve cover gaskets sum hoses pcv valve and tried to think off anyhting else and we still have the problem put the pedal to the floor and the engine kills u can get to a high RPM if you slowly rev the engine wat could be casuing this please help

Rebuild the carb, it's probably full of varnish from old gas... not expensive, just time consuming. Also take a look at the choke, it's probably stuck... it depends how long it's been sitting. Change the fuel filter while you're at it.

2+2 Carb and Choke cleaner
that or similar will clean up ur carb real nice, get a can or two at a local auto shop
you may not have to rebuild if that helps enough |
