Question New Guy With Questions!!

ok, here's the deal, i just bought an '03 eclipse GT, V6, (with the "sport-shift", or trip-tronic, or whatever it's called). now, my 1st question is:
should i pull out that tranny, and throw in a 6 speed and a new tranny?, or should i just use the money that would have with into that and drop a turbo kit on the engine, and rebuild the tranny with comp. parts?, i would also like to know how good is this car for racing, (both stock, and rebuilt?). i'd like to "attempt" to get it up to about 350+hp. (i just bought it, so it's my new/1st project car.) so ANY/ALL help, ideas, and comments are very, VERY appreciated...i also would like to start looking at body kits for the '03 eclipse, if anyone knows a good company, or a good website that would also be appreciated........basically, once agian, im new to all this, and i just to get it right! i don't want to be that cheese ass guy that doesn't know shit about his car! ...i was surfing the other day, doing research, and looking up info, and came across this site, and found it to be VERY informative...i'd like to already thank you guys for all the other info. that i've read already, and would also like to that you all for taking the time to read this, and once agian, ANY response's would be extreamly appreciated....

thanx. peace.

Re: New Guy With Questions!!

I would say that a manual swap for racing will be the best bet for you. This car is fairly good for racing with a suspension and chassis bracing. I have videos of an N/A 3g V6 passing EVO's, STi's, Ferrari's, and Porches on the corners and holding them at bay on the straights.

A turbo kit will net you 330-350whp easy, with only 8.5psi worth of boost. 1/4 mile time wise, that will put into the low 12's, possibly even the high 11's with a good driver, LSD, and slick tires.

Re: New Guy With Questions!!

definately swap out the tranny. you will soon find out that the stock trannys are pieces of crap. we also arent allowed to advertise for websites on this forum. but if you were to PM johnnybgood, im sure he could point you in the right direction with the turbo setup.
