and the culprit is...
...dizzy troubles...
Well, if anybody cared, my car has been laid up for a few weeks, and the Honda guy ruled out the main relay and says the ECU is fine, but my dizzy is shot. I guess I'll be replacing the distributor again. It's like $200 with a core rebate of like $50 or something like that, but everything is new (or rather remanufactured). I wonder if part of the dizzy is shot or the whole thing. I guess it's safer to just buy the whole thing new... better safe than sorry I guess. Well, I've decided to ditch the Jacobs Ignition and go with a stock cap and 7mm wires instead of the big @$$ 8.5mm Jacobs wires. I doubt it'll make any difference...

first off don't just go buy a new dizzy. it may just be your ignitor or coil within the dizzy. if he was such a honda guy he should have told you that
...especially since it's so easy to check i might have an a6 dizzy laying around...but i'm pretty sure jer sold the last one yesterday. i'll get back to you on that. i really don't have the time at the current moment to jump on my soap box and preach about how to test things so here is the next best thing: testing ignitor: testing coil: electrical section of manual: http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...electrical.htm

Re: and the culprit is...
Yeah, I did that. I replaced the ignitor already and nothing. The honda dude said crank angle sensor so I took whole dizzy back where I got it 1.5 years ago and they're going to make good on it. Do you believe that? My car should be up and running real soon. I feel kind of stupid cuz I could have just walked to the store with the dizzy from where my car was broke down and got this done like 3 weeks ago. Oh well... thanks anyway, Ami

Re: and the culprit is...
Car is ready. Running a stock cap. Dude didn't disconnect the Jacobs system but I think I can figure it out by following the instructions in reverse.
I think the Jacobs just sucks juice from the battery like an amp does for a stereo system... similar principle anyway.

Re: and the culprit is...
My car is running sweet.
As soon as I got home I popped the hood and removed the Jacobs ignition. I am still running the 8.5mm wires though cuz the spare ones I had just didn't fit for some reason. I'm thinking on maybe replacing the Jacobs wires with something new and different. Any suggestions?
