Re: ca18det or sr20det???

IT all depends on certain variables. One would be if you have a 89-90 s13, the wiring is the old style and the swap will work with your power steering and tach. The CA is limited in that the electronics are older and you have a little less displacement. With some of the same mods as an SR you could be making SR power, but I have heard the max reliable power is less. The best advantage to the CA is parts interchangeablity with use motors and cost. The 88 or 89 Pulsar NX is a CA18de with the same DFI as the CA18det has, Direct Fire Ignition with one coil per spark plug. I have rode in a CA18DET powered silvia, it was fast but it was modified, turbo, FMIC, and some other unnoticed things. I like my SR though, a little pricey but a stout motor. It has an aluminum block but it has been known to hold 550hp on stock internals. I like it because of the large aftermarket for it, and there are plenty of people modifying them so I can copy their setups.

I see your pic is the S14, if that is your car, I would go with the SR20DET, s13 or s14. The electronics and power steering will be compatable.

Dont get a CA, youll make prices go up. Everyone, stop buying CAs and start buying more and more SRs. Then we can both be cool. I willing to share my coolness here.
