cam/crank sensor

I have a 90 plymouth laser 2.0 turbo. (mitusbishi) I have been told I need a new crank/cam sensor by my local mechanic. This is the problem. The car completely dies after running it for at least a half hour. When it gets really hot i noticed. I will come back after running it for that long and there is no power at all. Radio resets lost, everything. If i wait a long time (cool down I guess) and try again it usually restarts with no problem. I have even had it die on me while driving and the result is the same. If its the sensor is there anything I can do about it? Is there somewhere where I can get one for cheap. New is 400 plus?! Also, is this the problem? ANy thing would help! This car has been great till now. I am the second owner since 92!

Re: cam/crank sensor

Did you ever consider getting the part at the junk yard?
