I bought myself a 1998 maxima SE(manual) with security and convenience package, with 79.3 K miles on it. I had a few questions about this lean machine....what better place on earth to put the question than here....

what is the stock AM/FM/Cassette/CD Audio system with 6 speakers ? it sounds nice but not like awsome if its Bose? and what can i do to improve the system ....keep in mind i'm a student, so kinda have tight budget. I look at the stock speakers they are panasonic, made in japan.

Next thing i wanna know, what r the things which go wrong mechanically at this age and mileage of the car. I have to change the break pads front ( only 15% left). Tires are new...

I have owned the car for a week now and already lovin it....even though its 6 yrs old it runs better than my old car ...... corolla ( i feel ashamed to even mention it). but anyway.... give me some feedback.

i have a 97 with about 95 k on it, i bought it used in 01. Worse and most costly problem is sensors , needed an 02 and one other can;t remember what that was, think i may now need a knock sensor as well but have not checked codes yet. Exhaust , brakes, for usual stuff. Not an easy car to work on unless you are mechnically inclined and to have shop do it , not a cheap car to fix.

Lots of folks enjoy modifying for performance enhancement.
