Question ABS Light

'99 Lesabre Custom...the light wont go off till you turn the car off and restart it. The mechanic says "put a piece of tape over it "
Any suggestions ...Thanks

ABS Light - First check your brake fluid level.

Did this light start coming on after you did a panic stop? If so, I could then understand why the mechanic said: "Put a piece of tape over it". The switch for low brake fluid is on the master cylinder. Some spring or metal piece in that switch can get jammed when doing a hard braking. The real solution is to replace the switch or the master cylinder (a bit expensive just to turn off the light). The low tech solution is just to remove the connector to that switch and do without.

If you have a fluid level problem this will cause your red brake light to come on and not your ABS light to come on.

The light is on for a reason you have an ABS problem. The right way to fix it is have the car scanned for codes and go from there. While the light is on you have no ABS brakes.
