Leak question

Ok i have a question i knew i had a small oil leak like a droplet of oil like 1 drop would form under my car over night after i drove it durring the day. So one day i decide to go under my car and check out and see if i can find it. When i get under there my whole engine is in oil my transmission looks like its all covered in oil is this all normal could one little droplet of oil leaking everytime i drive it cause everything under my car to be oily over a period of time? Sorry for the no periods. Also would the best way to find it just to lift the car up fully wash away all the stuff with an engine cleaner drive it around and then look for it? Or can there be an oil leak in multiple spots?

Also this is how it works when i get my oil up to like 75% on the dipstick meter it drops down to like 50 in about 3 days after that it takes like 2-3 weeks to get down to 20-30% until i fill it up with a bit of oil up to 50-60 and whenever i put it up to like 75or 80% of the dipstick it leaks out faster can i get help sorry for the long post.

should i just give up with my car and buy a honduuuuh. Or do DSM often leak oils and you guys can tell me where the main spots are and if its an easy quick fix. Cause it scared me when i saw how much oil there was and it looked like it was coming out of every curve from every part under the engine but only a tiny drop would form under the car over night so yeah!

Re: Leak question

oil is probably slow leaking out of your oil pan gasket and when you drive, its spraying it out all down the back side of the engine and so on.

if you are lucky it is something like the gasket. (crossing my fingers for you )

i dont think its my pan cause i shined a flashlight higher and it looked like there was some oil way higher then the pan unless somehow it squirts all the way out there and there really is a lot of oil i mean i dont even see how oil could get in to some of the spots it is its like on the other side of my transmission and shit too its crazy. I see everything i just dont get why there is so much oil everywhere yet the leak is so small and so little and it only leaks after i drive it around for a while and when i do stop it its like a little droplet like a quarter of a tea spoon sometimes less.

Re: Leak question

if the oil covers the whole entire back of your engine i'd check the valve cover gasket but if it's just on the bottom, i'd check the pan gasket, or do both just to make sure.

Re: Leak question

you might want to check and see if it's tranny fluid or engine oil. if it's engine oil it could be coming from the front cover too, or it could be tranny fluid too.

Re: Leak question

is it a manual or automatic?? if it's auto. the fluid should be a clean red color and there isn't a plug, you have to take off the whole pan but if it's a manual i can't help ya much. if it's a manual i believe both of them are a darker brown/black color.

Re: Leak question

check the valve cover for cracks, the oil cap (gasket), oil drain plug, (If it is a gst or gsx, check the oil line running back into the oil pan from the turbo)

Its a manual non turbo. I know its leaking my main worry is why is it all over the bottom of my car is it the wind just throwing it around or something? im planning on cleaning it all out on the weekend then drive it around and see where its leaking from another thing if i have a leak from my transmission what would be the best way to fix it just patch it up with some silicone?
