Unhappy fast collision, no airbag

recently, i got into a fairly high speed collision with a guard rail. i was trying to top out on a residential street, boy how smart is that. it's 1 lane, 2 way, speed limit of 25, and absolutely no overhead lights. but anyways, i managed to slow down to about 30-35 mph before i hit the bastard rail, and my airbag didnt go off. i'm just surprised, as the bastard bag might've done more harm than good in my case, since my seat was pushed in fairly close to the console.
btw, i was driving a 2003 civic lx
-and damn do those things crumble easily. just from that collision i had a bent frame, bent radiator, crumbled fenders, bent hood and cracked windshield.
any thoughts about this topic?

Yeah- you're a dumbass. Do us all a favor and confine that kind of bullshit to a track before you kill someone trying to earn a Darwin's Award.

Personally, if you want to dick up your ride and kill yourself pretending you can drive, it's fine by me. But for shitsake, a 25 zone? Got pediestrians, pets, parked cars, you name it. Bet you'd feel REAAAAL good if you had run over someone's grampa out with the dog, eh?

Hope whoever's paying for that car has good insurance, and likes to pay out the ass for it.

2002 Civics and up have sensors in the steering wheel.

They can tell if you're a fucking idiot, and if so, the car automatically disables the airbag in an effort to help clear the roads of morons.

Looks like you tripped the switch.

Try topping out your car on a highway, not on a residensial zone, its still stupid but safer...
