crashed F1's... pix

I found these picture on my HD earlier. I remember saving these a long time ago... but have you guys ever seen these before?

They're on my website, on the front page... just slapped on on there quick... doesn't allow remote image linking... so try copying and pasting, or just type it in your browser. Or just click it, whatever works for you.

I don't know anything about these cars... what numbers, etc.

Seen them all - but I'll add some descriptions...

The top one is the 2nd road car prototype 'XP2' taken during the crash test session at MIRA. To date it remains the only car that could be driven away from the facility after the test (at I believe 40mph) was completed. Gordon Murray reportedly had such faith in the safety of the car that he had requested to be in it when the crash happened. He wasn't though...

The second car is unknown, but may be the one crashed by Bernd Piechstrieder, the former CEO of BMW who reportedly wrote one off in a high speed crash.

The third is another unknown, but that image appears in "Driving Ambition" and it talks about how the silencer (muffler) was an integral part of the rear crash cushion. The inset photo is a shot of the Clinic Model which never had an engine, so I guess it was just chosen for reference.

The last car is Rowan Atkinson's #061 - he crashed his into the back of an Austin Metro at low speeds and did damage to the front end. Some have claimed he totalled the car, but what you see there is a lot of superficial damage and the car was repaired and is still in his possession.

I actually have quite a few pictures of some toasted supercars...

Acura NSX
Dinan M3
6 pictures of 3 different totaled out vipers
Ferrari F50 totaled out
Hennessey 650R totaled out
Lamborghini Countach cut in half, driver died
Lamborghini Diablo GT prototype burned up totally
Maserati 3200GT totaled out
Nissan Skyline R34 25GT completely totaled out
Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R completely totaled out
Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R this is too far gone to even be sure about
Porsche 550 Spyder the only shot I know of James Dean's 550 b/w photo
Porsche 968CS front smashed up a little

I got a few more... a rolled S2000, some XK8s and XKR's, Opel Speedster, etc...

if you want to see any of these, just say. I would upload them all to my site, but I'm on 56K, so doing that is like racing up a hill in a Yugo.

I don't really care much for wrecked car photos, but the McLaren ones interest me for the history they can provide.

Every time I see that 3rd picture.....even though its magled and melted...I look at it and think "Its pure gold......its still worth a nice chunk of change. Also, gold is nice and soft....a little work with a hammer and it'll be good as new! "

Re: crashed F1's... pix

from what i heard #042 is insured in parts...no one insurance company in our area would insure it so several companies have policies on different parts of the car.
