s-10 stutters then stops

i have a 1999 s-10 and everyonce and a while when i come to a stop it will stutter as i get back on the gas. if i take it out of drive and put it in park the problem goes away. any ideas? transmission?

Hot, cold? Auto or Man.? Which Engine?

when its hot is when it stutters. its a automatic and it had a 4 cyl 2.2 l in it.

Welcome to the party! Ihave same engine and trans combo, and have been dealing with this for over 3 years. Search around this sight among others and you will find MANY people with the same problems. Only when it's hot. All I have to do to fix it is turn off the engine and restart. Of course this is not to safe when coming out of a toll booth and try to accelerate to 70mph! I,m leaning towards the Throttle Position Sensor, but don't want to just start replacing everything.

Any check engine lights?

Have you done a tuneup lately?
