I recently purchased an '88 528e bmw w/ 154,000mi. Under the hood on the air filter box is a sticker indicating the mileage and date at which a "camshaft belt" was replaced, with an illustration of a belt engaging 4 "wheels". Could "camshaft belt" be another name for the timing belt????
Any info would help. Thanks. |

Yes, a cam belt is a timing belt.
Fortunately, the M30 engines have timing chains, and don't need replacement, so I'm off the hook. Your engine is the M20. Flunky |
