1995 camaro flooding

My 1995 LT-1 Camaro is flooding. Changed plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and oxygen sensors but it still has trouble starting. Plugs smell gassy as if it is a flooding condition. No error codes. Any suggestions?

Re: 1995 camaro flooding

have you checked to see if you getting spark. may be the optispark system. its known for these problems. you can get a tool that looks like a spark plug wire, has a glass bulb in the center so you can try cranking it. you will see the bulb flash as you crank the engine.

Re: 1995 camaro flooding

well im no expert on engines, and even less of one on flooded engines, but none of the stuff you did is gonna affect a flooded condition. you have to drain the cylinders...

Re: 1995 camaro flooding

stop driving it into the river :evil lol:

but recheck your O2 sensors, make sure they are tightly plugged in, ive seen cars come back to the dealership because someone didnt get the plug all the way in, and it came disconnected and was just hanging, so the computer got a default lean signal, and kept richening the mixture. pain in the ass. also, what kind of air filter did you put in??? if you use a K&N filter, and over oil it you will cause a film of oil to form on the MAF sensor wire, and you will have the conditions you are talking about.

I haven't done any work to the car before this problem. The car will start if I hold the gas pedal down for a minute or two while I turn it over, then when I let off the gas pedal it will usually start with a lot of tail pipe emmisions, then it clears out and sounds fine.

I put a new K & N filter element in. It was pre-oiled from the factory.
