Doesnt look good!

Okay It started with a missfire so i had a friend scan for me yes a miss fire and a EGR code and a p1404 code which is related to the EGR.Then i pulled of the EGr and yep it was stuck so i un stuck it untill i pick a new one up since i didnt have the 300 hundred at that time because of where i live.So i go and replace the spark plugs since im in there .Then i see a little coolant on some of my plugs and im thinking well that could be whats causing the misfire so i go and check the oil dipstick it looks a little over the full mark .So i drained some out looking at the oil it didnt seemed contaminated so i went on a check the fluid level and its down a little so i topped it up.Okay now the light (check engine )is still on after i reset it. Oh boy now the car is smokin white and blue out of the tail pipes and has a sweet smell and is running rough like before(misfire).Okay now im gettin freaked .I pulled out the plugs and sure enough theres collant leakin out of the spark plug holes on both sides of the motor and coolant in the oil .Huh what the heck?Is it possible that it blew the manifold gaskets and or both head gaskets.I didnt even get it to warm up! It was that bad and is it possible that both heads cracked?
Like i said it never over heated the motor and the coolant is orange and free of oil.But my wife did just come back from the states and i asked her did it over heat and she said no just the check engine light came on and it started to run rough. Any anti on this peeps. Its a 1999 grand prix gt 3800 none turb

Re: Doesnt look good!

you have the very common cracked upper plenum. they crack at the coolant passage to the throttle body. Pretty easy fix, but don't drive it or you risk running it out of coolant and also contaminating your oil with coolant. The plenums are available aftermarket thru Delphi and dorman and retail for around $150-$170 depending on where you are and who you call.

Thanks for the return on that i didnt think of checking the plenum ,but does make sence since i have all compression and theres no way a cracked head or blowin gasket can purge that much coolant thanks bud i will check that out.. Cool glad i joined the AF.

Yep it was a gapeing hole in the coolant passage to the throttle body right in where the EGR tube sticks into the plenum.I would never have found that one thanks.
