Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

Hey, i know theres already a Sky in the drifting scene, but thats a RWD Sky R34. Im lookin for a AWD Skyline that can drift. Do you guys have clips of some drifting? Not the RWD Sky but an AWD Sky drifting.
Thanks
Silver_GTR34

(i jus gotta prove to my brothers that there is AWD Sky Drifting)

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

I dont know if you can drift the GTR because of the ATTESA ETS on, and thats there to prevent traction loss. Maybe there are people out there who have done it, but sounds pretty hard to do. People have drifted AWD cars, like Evos, but the Evo doesnt have ATTESA, and its not heavy like the GTR.

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

You can toss a GT-R into a drift, but the slide won't last for long. The awd hardware is supposed to keep that sort of thing from happening. You go against that by trying to make it drift.

The D1 driver Ken Nomura probably picked his ER34 sedan over a GT-R for that reason.

Yeah, you might...but you'd probably break a lot of expensive driveline parts, too.

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

Hubert Young was drifting his R32 GT-R at the first D1 in the US.

We did remove the driveshaft to make it RWD. For drifting you dont want a AWD car. Makes it difficult to do what you want it to do for drifting.

Yea in fact one of the people who work at the D1 told me they dont even allow AWD cars to compete. Then he told me he might just give an AWD a shot.

Wont allow them to compete ? They already have. Along with Hubert Young from the US - there was one other R32 GT-R that has competed in D1.

Not allowing to compete - Competing.

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

I dont know, thats what the guy told me. He said they "wanted to keep it traditianal." But thenn he told me he will let me try out. Drifting isnt traditianal anymore, the bastardisation of drifting is almost complete. Too bad, there goes another sport that got bastardisesd by big name companies. Thank you Craig Lieberman!

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

You CAN drift an AWD. See my sig for photo and take a look at some of my previous posts and you'll see more.

However, I would NOT recommend it. It's a lot of work and once all 4 wheels get spinning, the car wants to staighten itself right out which can be overcome by not countersteering as early or as much. It's very awkward.

Also, it's very hard on the drivetrain which is why I was drifting my Evo in the rain. It was my daily driver so I didn't want to break it. And yes, GT-R's have plenty of power to get all 4 wheels going in a turn but it has a tendancy to want to "throw" you into the turn.

Re: Skyline GTR AWD Drifters?

Yea, I knew it was possible to do an AWD drift, I've seen it done, with JUN's Evo. What kind of mods do you have done to your Evo?

All you have to do is Dis-engage the atessa on the GTR and you are golden. My GTR does it at the flip of a switch.
