'99 - How to drain the PS pump and rack

What's the easiest/best way to completely drain the power steering pump and rack on my '99 Silv?

It's making some noise and I want to re-fill it with some 'specialty' lubricant. Plus after 173K miles it probably could stand to be changed.

Thanks,
Dan

If you go to any dealer they should have a powersteering flush machine, but i believe it's a joke and a waste of money. It still isnt going to get it all out of the rack or gear box.you could remove the pressure hose off the back of the pump and drain the fluid (pia)and messy.Or you could go to any automotive store and pick up a sucker(cheap $19)it looks like a grease gun but has a hose on the end to suck out fluids, then just fill up the pump and put some conditioner in there as well.Hope this helps.also it could be a bad pump.good luck
