Oil Change Question
I Have a 2000 windstar, 3.8. Could someone please tell me how many quarts of oil it takes when changing the oil and filter?
Thanks |

Re: Oil Change Question
3.8 liter 5.7
3.0 liter 5.0 won't read all the way full on dipstick at these but that's what ford recomends

Re: Re: Oil Change Question
Not sure where those numbers came from, the 2000 Windstar owner's manual lists the 3.0 at 4.5qts, the 3.8 at 5.0qts. This includes the filter. I use exactly 5 qts on each oil change and the level is right in the middle of the L-H marks on the dipstick.

Re: Oil Change Question
if the manual staltes lower amounts try that first - my numbers are from the motorcraft quick ref. chart and has been known to be incorrect in the past - go ford - can't even print an oil chart with good results

Thanks a million about the oil info. I added 5 quarts after changing the filter and draining the old oil and I found it at the middle of the marks on the dipstick.
I was thinking that I needed to put more oil in but I hesitated because it just seemed that more than 5 quarts was too much. So Ford designed a dipstick that makes is look like you a quart short when you really are full. Nice. Thanks again for your help |
