1995 escort won't start

The car is a 1995 Ford Escort Station Wagon with a 1.9 there is 140k on the moter. My car was running fine, but it died when I was driving down the road. After I towed it home :(, I removed the timing cover and checked for a jumped or broken timing belt. The belts is ok and the timing mark on the crainkshaft and camshaft are inline with the marks. The engine has spark and is getting fuel, it turns over but it wont even fire or try to start. Is there any sensors like an airflow sensor that would cause it not to start. Any help would be most aprecatited.

If you have spark and fuel it has to run unless the timimg is messed up. Did you check the crank angle sensor?
