amp not workin

hey got a pioneer amp, little one, hamie-down, not more than 200 watts. but i wanted to hook it up to my speakers. i have power going in and the ground connected. the cd plater is also hooked up. i have the amp running to one speaker just to see if it would work and nothing is happeneing. keep in mind this speaker is not attached to the cd player accept thru the amp. is that right?
thanks

Re: amp not workin

the remote wire goes from your amp to your deck. It tells the amp to turn on. its usually a blue wire. at least all the ones i have seen are blue. and yes the speakers connect to the amp..not the deck.

Re: amp not workin

On some cars the power antenna wire can be used you need a signal to the wire when the headunit is on. What you dont want is a wire that turns on only when the radio turns on and turns off when the cd player is on.

Re: amp not workin

If it's an aftermarket headunit there should be a blue wire with a white stripe, this is the amp remote wire and it will be exactly what you want. If you have a stock headunit, I would use any wire in the dash that turns on and off with the car. This can be your ignition wire going to the headunit, power wire going to the cigarette lighter plug (if yours turns on and off with the ignition), etc. You have a lot of choices, you just have to find one that fits your needs and tap into it.

ok iw as talking to a friend who knows about this stuff but i was talking to him on a comp and it crashed...(not having much luck with electronics lately) but he started asking me if my wattage matched up i said yea im pretty sure but the amp is a hamie down and the guy told me it was 35Wx4 or sumthin like that so i figured i was good cuz my speakers have a max 150 and the amp is hooked up to 2 for now but soon 4.
its a pioneer GM-X302
and i cant find info anywhere to double check what i was told cuz its not witten anywhere on the amp
