Lightbulb - Shit, now i really have to think hard / Someone please help. -

oh boy, now im really in a tight situation.

ok guys, i need some personal opinions and facts here.

i went to carmax today to see if they had any ralliarts for the hell of it, since i test drove the 5 speed version of the ralliart to see if i wanted an automatic or a manual.

they didnt have any ralliarts, but they did have a Subaru Impreza WRX 2002.

so i thought, what the hell ill give it a try.

holy shit this car is fun!
nice and powerful, very tight handeling and everything..........1 problem though.
the auction is in 2 days!!!

wich basically means this.
i have to make up my mind and learn as much information about the WRX as i possibly can in the next 2 days before the auction.

ive been doing nothing but researching the ralliart for all this time, test driving different years and transmissions etc...
seeing what they go for and how commen they are, what upgrades and kits are availible for them, and now i have to know all that only for the WRX but i have only 1 day.

so please help, i need to know a few things about the WRX.
is the WRX considdered a sports car like the EVO? or a sedan?
does the WRX have steel re-inforced door struts like the evo for protection?
does the WRX have a rollbar in the roof?
is the WRX a 1 solid piece chassis?
in the long term 5 year period, will the WRX be alot of upkeep and will it cost me alot to repair, upgrade ect...?
will the car last 5 years without a lot of hassle?
is the car a safe car?
are there alot of 3rd party companies that make acessories and parts for it?

and finally, which would you rather buy for an estimated 5 year period?
the Subaru WRX 2002-2004
or the 2004 Ralliart?

both have similer specs minus a few things here and there.
the 2.4 liter engine vs. 4 wheel drive........

i can get both the ralliart or the WRX for a similer price, but insurrance and safety play a big factor here, please share me some help and fast!!!
i have only 1 day of complete studying before the auction!!

Why don't you ask this in the WRX forum?

i suppose i could move it to that forum, i simply asked here bcause it was a ralliart question.

as in, wich should i get,
or those who have used both cars, wich they prefer.
(basically im asking people who like ralliarts, what they think from their experience with the subaru.)

i found most of my answers throughout the day reguarding the specs of the car, but i still want to know hands on from others experiences, what they think.

if you think this thread would do better in the other forum, please have it moved.

the wrx sti is the main compeditor of the evo, it's got 300 bhp stock, all wheel drive with active electronix center differential. that means you can control how much power goes to the front/rear wheels. it's generaly said that the subaru has more power and is a bit faster but the Evo handles much better. in any event, both the STI and the EVO are on a higher plateu than a ralliart. i'm jelous that you have this kind of freedom to pick and chose a car man, lol. good luck

thanks for the help guys, it seems i may be getting a WRX, ive done alot of homework concerning the 2 cars.

it seems that with the subaru, my insurrance will be lower than if i have the ralliart, for 2 reasons.
1: the subaru is a few years old, newer cars have higher insurrance.
2: the subarus safety rating is higher than the ralliart, wich also lowers my insurrance.

strange and yet funny that my insurrance is lower with a turbo-charged sports car than it is with a sedan (ralliart)

and from what ive read up, the subaru has better handeling around tight corners and handles better than the evo in rain/snow/gravel.
wich is a big plus for me because it rains every day here.

however i addmit that the interior is much nicer in the ralliart.

but since the subaru is almost twice the performance/power as the ralliart, and costs much less, because its 2 years older, it just seems like a really good choice for me.

i sure hope i can find one with a nice interior.

this was the stupidest thread. the kid wanted to post his thoughts on why not to get a ralliart. with your subaru, you have now entered the class of douchebag. hope you enjoy yourself.
...should've gotten an evo/o-z/ralliart

i'd rather have the subaru than my lancer, or the ralliart even. AWD vs 2wd, turbo vs NA, the list goes on....

yeah, thats the way i see it, so i figured id ask.

pshh, some people assume too much, i dont have either car yet, but ive decided to go with the wrx in the end, its just a better buy.
besides, the ralliart just came out and it hasnt depreciated yet, so maybe in a few years the ralliart will have a better pricetag.

but for now the wrx is just more reasonable, though i admit the ralliarts interior is much nicer, however the new wrx 2004 has an even nicer interior, so maybe i can get a guy to swap the materials out for a reasonable price.

thanks for all the info guys, i have all the info i need.

i have a few wrx questions but im going to post them in the subaru section.

i have to say your talking about getting a wrx or ralliart but then your also putting the sti and evo into the conversation all are four different cars , so which is it? you can't campare a ralliart to sti, or wrx to an evo anyway go with whatever you think you want and what car you enjoy the most don't buy a car that your not gonna like.
